Our Mission


My mission is to make a difference in people’s lives, especially for those who already face so many challenges dealing with routines and daily tasks. The tools I am able to teach people to learn will help minimise the challenges they face and help them to cope better in everyday life. I find this approach works best when everyone involved in a persons life, works together to help implement change and I help to facilitate this to happen by liaising and communicating with everyone.

My goal is to give children/ adults and families the right strategies and tools to make living in our complicated world a bit easier to understand and deal with.


Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic tool that can be used to treat a variety of problems affecting your mental and physical health. These can include phobias, pain, discomfort, depression, anxiety, sensory overloads, self-esteem issues, self-limiting beliefs, Smoking cessation, weight loss, and many more. It is very different from the hypnosis you might have heard about, read on to find out more!

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool which targets the subconscious mind. It is a safe mechanism which operates by putting you into a trance state. Whilst this might sound scary, trance state actually describes a mental state that we are in and out of 24/7. It is a natural phenomenon that has been used for many years to enable us to rewrite ingrained patterns of behaviour into more productive coping tools. A trance state is when you are so completely focused on one thing, for example, watching a film, that everything around you begins to disappear. This is because, in this state, you are so in tune with your own feelings and breathing that the rest of the world is able to fade away. The time flies by without you being aware of it passing. Using hypnosis, we can recreate that trance state through deep relaxation. This gives us access to the subconscious mind where we can directly make positive changes to our habits and behaviours.

Our subconscious mind runs 90% of our behaviours. That is why we are not always completely aware of why we are feeling certain emotions, such as anxiety or stress. Hypnotherapy can help you to target and manage where these emotions come from and change them. The reason that we struggle to make these changes on our own is because we are only accessing our conscious mind. A lot of the time our undesirable behaviours are triggered subconsciously and that is why we need hypnotherapy to help make positive changes that we cannot do consciously.

Hypnotherapy at Achievable Journey, like all of our therapies, is tailored to the individual. No script needed We work with your inner strengths, making the process unique and individual to you. By combining hypnotherapy with solution focused psychotherapy, we can help you to create unique tools and the perfect environment to have positive change on your life. The solution focused approach means that we look towards the future, what you want to change and create a pathway for how to get there in the most effective way for you.

As part of our person-centred approach, I work to your individual pace and I use hypnotherapy in combination with a variety of therapeutic techniques to create the best solution for you. I use verbal, visual and non-visual communication, including body language and signing, in order to communicate best with you, particularly for children, young people or adults with Special Needs and Disabilities. I tailor the work to their needs, abilities and personal goals. In my practice, I tailor the techniques through a variety of sensory tools, including corn flower, bubbles, pictures, music and balloon, in order to communicate the therapy best. I also work closely with parents and carers in order to support them with using the techniques and strategies in general life.


Asma Jacob (achievable journey) is a qualified Solution Focus Therapy Hypnotherapist, I studied at Within Sight Hypnotherapy and I a member of the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and Register (GHSC & GHR), the Hypnotherapy Association and is CNHC Registered.

Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT (AKA Tapping) is releasing trapped emotions (energy) in your body, by tapping using our fingertips on the ACUPRESSURE Meridian point, that are situated just beneath the surface of the skin. The treatment is non-invasive and works on the ethos of making change as simple and as pain free as possible. It’s like ACUPUNTURE WITHOUT using any NEEDLES. Tapping on the Meridian Points helps to stimulate the blockage which helps resolve the problem quickly and effectively. I have seen this on myself and other clients of how IMPRESSIVE EFT is to resolve PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL problems.

EFT draws its power from Eastern Discoveries from 5000 years ago. EFT focuses on the Emotional Aspect and helps CHANGE and RELEASE it. Acupuncture is mainly for the physical alignment.

I understand it looks really strange TAPPING on your face and body but believe me , it is really effective and gives amazing results.

EFT really helps to RELEASE lots of NEGATIVE emotions and ANXIETIES and allows you to feel at PEACE which allows you to focus on lots of POSITIVE areas in your life.

Our SUBCONSIOUSE mind runs 90% of our BEHAVIOUR which makes us not aware why we feeling certain emotions like ANXIETY, STRESS etc. using the TOOLS of EFT it helps identify the issues emotionally and helps release it.

EFT can be used to treat phobias, pain, discomfort, depression, anxiety, behaviour, sensory over load, self-esteem, changing your self-limited beliefs, cravings, giving up smoking and so much more.

EFT has so many techniques that, we will find one that suits you. Some examples are picture tapping, object tapping, chasing the pain, matrixes-imprinting, follow the energy and so much more.

We will discuss the issues that you are currently facing and set how I believe we can best overcome them. I will organise personalised goals and set challenges for you. I will work with you on implementing relaxation states as well as guide you through tapping techniques which will be thoroughly explained and demonstrated during the sessions.

EFT has more IMPACT and better results and outcomes when working with a practitioner as they will help you go deeper to your ROOTS and cause of the emotion that might be causing the problem and help you to clear it.

Behaviour Support

Behaviour Support is about UNDERSTANDING what the behaviour is telling you and what is TRIGGERING it. All behaviour is a form of COMMUNICATION and will always have a TRIGGER, whether it is KNOWN or UNKNOWN. The reason a behaviour can occur is when someone CANNOT express themselves to someone or too themselves and it has gone out of control. This can be shown by:

VERBAL AGGRESSION e.g. screaming, shouting, swearing

PHYSICAL e.g. hitting, kicking, scratching, hair pulling, throwing, punching etc.

SELF-HARM e.g.  refusal to eat, becoming withdrawn, cutting etc.

In short, I start by OBSERVING the behaviour to find the TRIGGER that is causing the BEHAVIOUR and put STRATEGIES in place to help the person become more in control. We find the TRIGGER and work out how to DE-ESCULATE it. Realising the SIGNS of the behaviour BEFORE it hits crisis point can take CONTROL of  the behaviour and deescalate it.

This is, as always, about the individual and what works for them, there is never one technique that can fix all. We work at a pace suitable for the person and use input from them. If needed, the use of communication tools will be implemented.  Some of the strategies include

Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP is about how the brain works, how we speak, think, feel and programme information into our brains.  NLP works with our SUBCONSIOUS mind which control 90% of our behaviour and emotions.

Neuro is how we INDIVIDUALLY absorb information through our SENSES, to make sense of them, INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY, with sounds, images, internal sensations, touch, taste and smell.

Linguistic is how we SPEAK and make a personalised MEANING to the information that is given to us from the world OUTSIDE by assigning language to the INTERNAL images, sounds and feelings, tastes and smells, thus forming everyday CONCIOUS awareness.

Programming is the BEHAVIOURAL response that occurs as a result of neurological FILTERING processes and the meaning we have put into things due to the linguistic map.

NLP is aimed to ENHANCE the healing process. This happens by CHANGING the conscious and subconscious BELIEFS of the person about themselves and the situation or problem. This is all part of their LIMITED BELIEFS that has been programmed. NLP will “RE-PROGRAMME”  Self-limited beliefs by using different techniques and tools.

NLP has been used to CHANGE and replace the SELF-LIMITED BELIEFS that we have about ourselves and recover from any issues that we have. We are owning our OWN MANUAL of the brain, we learn lots of other stuff like cooking, riding a bike, swimming etc. but we never learn how to be in CONTROL of our BRAIN and stay in control of our EMOTIONS and change things.

NLP is a TOOL BOX that we carry around with us at all times, we just don’t know how to use it. I can help you use the right skills and TECHNIQUES you need to help your self with any issues you are facing. NLP helps with enhancing communication, phobia’s, pain, changing beliefs, behaviours, sensory over load, anxieties., understanding how you feel and how to change it, stopping smoking, motivation and so much more.

With NLP there ISN’T just one technique that you use, and its never RIGHT or WRONG, if one TECHNIQUE doesn’t work for you, try another one. It is all about finding the right tools  for you. For example, you wouldn’t use a hammer to unscrew a screw. You use the right tools needed. NLP is about finding the RIGHT strategy that works for you, and REPLACE the FAULTY one.

This can be done using TOOLS like anchoring, future pacing, trance, swish, swoosh, and so much more.

NLP tools can help you become more in CONTROL of your THOUGHTS and FEELINGS.

NLP is always a GROWING box of tools and techniques using information and insights of how we function and how we can improve the way we think and feel. I work closely with every client and work according to their needs and ability and adapt my technique for every person.

Hi I’m Charlie and I have recently taken part in a workshop called ‘a taster of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Emotional Freedom Techniques’. The workshop was very engaging, active, and enjoyable. I found it very interested and relevant to the children with special needs that I work with. It has also widened my knowledge into what other factors contribute to challenging behaviour and the fun engaging activities were really beneficial making it easy to learn.
Form starting the workshop with no prior knowledge or experience of NLP and EFT, I have definitely gained an insight into both techniques and would recommend the workshop to any who are interested in this field and/or are involved with children and families with learning disabilities.

CASE STUDY: Success with Picture Tapping

‘Client A’ came to me with a phobia about yoghurt. The thought or sight of it, or even hearing somebody say the word, sent his stress levels spiralling, and he refused outright to say the word himself. Previous therapy for this phobia had been unsuccessful.

After carrying out my initial assessment, I decided Picture Tapping would be the right approach for this client. Picture Tapping uses metaphors and symbols which often allow access to aspects, thoughts and memories that may be difficult to express either verbally or by using other modalities; it helps to break the pattern match.

To avoid using the word ‘yoghurt’, we adopted the name ‘diary product’ throughout our session.

It’s crucially important that my clients feel comfortable and safe before we start any session and so I constantly reassured Client A that there would be no ‘diary product’ in the room while we were working together, unless he was happy to introduce it.

There are lots of different ways to tap with pictures, but my way was to first ask Client A what makes him happy and to draw that picture (images 1 and 2).

These drawings stayed in front of Client A throughout our session so he could look at them whenever he needed to. I then asked him how ‘diary product’ made him feel and to draw that (image 3).

I asked him if he was happy to talk about how it made him feel while he was drawing, and then I tapped on him whilst repeating his words: ‘I feel disgusted, angry, cross, annoyed.’ He became increasingly distressed, but after reassuring him that we could stop the session at any time if he needed to look at his calm happy picture, he drew another picture of how ‘diary product’ made him feel (image 4) whilst I tapped and gently spoke to him.

We stopped and spoke about the emotions that had come up during the tapping and after a short break, Client A began to feel more relaxed. I asked him again how ‘dairy product’ made him feel and to draw this (image 5). All the while I’m tapping on him and repeating his words and talking about what I see.

After another short break, we repeated the process (image 6) but Client A said something wasn’t right so drew another picture (image 7). Whilst he was drawing, Client A said, ‘It’s OK, I don’t have to eat it, the yoghurt’s in the fridge.’ As before, I was tapping on him, repeating his words and offering reassurance.

After he’d finished drawing his final picture, we continued to tap on his happy picture and talk about the things he liked and that made him happy – superman, jazz music – before rounding off the session with 7/11 breathing.

This was an intense 2-hour session but the results were incredible – just look at the difference between images 3 and 7. In the short video below, you can hear Client A talk about the transformation in himself.

As a therapist, my approach is always client-centric and the different techniques I use are based on my assessment of individual client needs and situations. I offer a totally bespoke service, taking the time to listen to and understand my clients – I don’t believe in ‘one size fits all’.
